Plain, unsweetened lactose free milk is often suitable for people with lactose intolerance and does not naturally contain sucrose.

The naturally occurring sugar in milk is lactose. Sucrose (table sugar) is not naturally present in plain milk.

In plain, unsweetened lactose free milk, the lactose has been broken down into two simpler sugars, glucose and galactose, making it easier for people with lactose intolerance to digest.

Because plain, unsweetened lactose free milk does not contain naturally occurring sucrose and the lactose has already been broken down, it is generally a suitable option for most people with both lactose intolerance and sucrose intolerance.

However, tolerance can vary from person to person. If you have a medical condition, speak with your GP or an Accredited Practising Dietitian for personalised advice.
