Is there career progression in dairy farming?

No matter your goals in dairy, there’s plenty of room to grow. With hands-on experience and the right training, you can work your way up (and see it reflected in your pay, too!).

While the current minimum pay rates apply under the award, your specific rate will depend on the farm you work at. And the best part? Many dairy farm workers earn above the award rates.

If you’re a junior farmhand, pay rates start at 16 and increase by 10% each year until you turn 20.

I prefer working with animals than people, is my day able to be structured around this?

You’ve come to the right place. Working on a dairy farm means plenty of time with animals, from making sure they’re happy, healthy, and well-fed (to sneaking in a few cuddles too!).

Providing the best care for animals isn’t just part of the job, it’s essential. It’s key to the success of every dairy farm and a moral responsibility we take seriously.
