They don’t laugh like humans, but they do feel happy and show it through playful behaviour, mooing and their body language.

Cows don’t laugh the way humans do with giggles or chuckles, but they do experience happy emotions and show it in their own way through:

  • Social behaviour: Walking freely and interacting with other cows.  
  • Mooing: Cows make different moos and sounds depending on their mood, including when they’re content. 
  • Body language: Relaxed posture, soft eyes and licking or grooming are signs they feel good. Calves often run and jump when they’re happy too! 
  • Cud chewing: When cows calmly chew their cud, it’s a sign they feel safe and comfortable. 

So while cows don’t laugh like us, they still feel and show positive emotions!
