Which plain lactose free dairy milk has the least sugar?

Thrive Together Dairy Food - Milk

All plain lactose free dairy milks have very similar sugar content — around 5g per 100mL — from naturally occurring sugar and doesn’t contain any added sugar.

Plain lactose free dairy milk only contains naturally occurring sugar from milk (lactose) and doesn’t have any added sugar. It typically has about 5g of sugar per 100mL, similar or slightly lower sugar than regular milk.

The lactose is already broken down into two simple sugars: glucose and galactose. This can make the milk taste sweeter than regular milk, even though no extra sugar is added. All plain lactose free dairy milks are a great option as they have low glycaemic index (GI) and no added sugar, plus retain the protein and calcium of regular milk.

Always check the nutrition information panel and the ingredient list on the side of the pack — this is where you can view nutritional information like the amount of sugar and other nutrients. If you’re unsure which milk you or your family should have, chat to your GP or a dietitian. They can provide personalised advice to help you make the right choice for your health needs.
