Italian roots, local pride
Seventy years on, Floridia Cheese remains one of Australia’s most respected cheesemakers, blending Sicilian tradition with Victorian milk to create award-winning Italian cheeses.
Founded in 1955 by Sicilian immigrant Mauro Montalto, Floridia Cheese has grown into one of Australia’s most respected Italian cheesemakers. Now in its fourth generation, the family continues the legacy, crafting ricotta, mozzarella, stracciatella and more with techniques passed down for over 70 years.
Visitors can discover this tradition at the Floridia factory outlet in Thomastown. Here you’ll find their award-winning range alongside a curated selection of local produce, with the chance to taste what makes Floridia so special. From hand-scooped ricotta to internationally recognised washed rinds, every product reflects a commitment to quality, craft and community.
Still family-owned and proudly Victorian, Floridia Cheese is a story of heritage, flavour and connection. A true dairy destination worth the visit.
