Meatball & Mozzarella Bake is a hearty, comforting dish featuring juicy meatballs in rich tomato sauce, topped with melted mozzarella. Perfect for an easy family dinner or meal prep.
Ingredients
Meatballs
- 500g beef mince
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- Pinch of sea salt and cracked black pepper
Tomato Bake
- 400g tomato passata
- 150g mozzarella ball, chopped into thick cubes
To Serve
- Chopped parsley
- Extra sea salt and cracked black pepper to serve
Method
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees grill.
- To make the meatballs, combine the meatball ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Roll into 12 even sized balls.
- Preheat a large frying pan over a medium temperature. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and pan fry the meatballs until they are charred and cooked through.
- Transfer the meatballs to a small-medium sized casserole or baking dish and top with the tomato passata.
- Wedge cubes of mozzarella in between the meatballs and the passata.
- Grill the dish in the oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is golden and melted.
- Sprinkle it with extra sea salt, cracked black pepper and chopped parsley to serve.
