Meatball & Mozzarella Bake is a hearty, comforting dish featuring juicy meatballs in rich tomato sauce, topped with melted mozzarella. Perfect for an easy family dinner or meal prep.

Ingredients

Meatballs

  •  500g beef mince
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • Pinch of sea salt and cracked black pepper

Tomato Bake

  • 400g tomato passata
  • 150g mozzarella ball, chopped into thick cubes

To Serve

  • Chopped parsley
  • Extra sea salt and cracked black pepper to serve

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees grill.
  2. To make the meatballs, combine the meatball ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Roll into 12 even sized balls.
  3. Preheat a large frying pan over a medium temperature. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and pan fry the meatballs until they are charred and cooked through.
  4. Transfer the meatballs to a small-medium sized casserole or baking dish and top with the tomato passata.
  5. Wedge cubes of mozzarella in between the meatballs and the passata.
  6. Grill the dish in the oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is golden and melted.
  7. Sprinkle it with extra sea salt, cracked black pepper and chopped parsley to serve.
