Sarah Kelly

Meet Sarah Kelly from Skye, Victoria

Sunrise starts, strong coffee and family roots.

For Sarah Kelly, dairy farming at Skye feels like destiny. Growing up on her family’s farm, she always felt a deep-rooted connection to the land, but returning to work alongside her dad confirmed she was on the right path. “I’m exactly where I’m meant to be,” Sarah reflects.

Her favourite time of day? “5:30 AM, when the sun starts to rise,” she says. It’s a peaceful moment that sets the tone for a busy day and like her essential morning coffee (full cream, one sugar), it’s a daily ritual that makes her work all the sweeter.

Sarah’s pride in her work shines through in her dedication to caring for her cows and producing top-quality milk. Her most relied-upon tool? Surprisingly, it’s her trusty whiteboard. “As simple as it sounds, it keeps everyone on track with what’s happening at each milking!” But Sarah isn’t the only one who knows how to communicate on the farm. “Our cows ‘cow-municate’ with each other,” she laughs, explaining, “If a gate’s left open or someone finds a way through a fence, they’ll make sure the whole herd knows about it!”

If she had to pick one thing that means the most, it’s her milk jug. Bringing home fresh milk each morning for her children’s breakfast “is a feeling like no other.” It’s that same level of care she pours into every batch. “We take a lot of pride in producing a high-quality, nutritious product for consumers and the most important part of achieving this is looking after our cows to the best of our ability.”

With every sunrise, Sarah watches her children learn and grow on the farm, just as she did. “I’m so grateful they have the same opportunity,” she says. When the holidays roll around, she looks forward to gathering family from far and wide to celebrate on the farm, creating memories (and enjoying anything with whipped cream!).

“We take a lot of pride in producing a high-quality, nutritious product for consumers, and the most important part of achieving this is looking after our cows to the best of our ability.”
