Celina Pellet
Meet Celina from Gloucester, New South Wales
From ballet shoes to gumboots in Gloucester.
Celina Pellet, based in Gloucester, NSW, didn’t grow up dreaming of dairy farming. In fact, her heart was set on contemporary ballet—until a sports injury and the impact of Covid-19 changed her plans. “I found myself on a dairy farm with no agricultural experience, not even knowing how to drive a manual,” she shares. But a few months in, something clicked. “I realised, there’s so much more to dairy than I imagined,” and her life took a turn for the best.
Since then, Celina’s thrown herself into the industry, racking up achievements like the 2023 Hunter & Central Coast Trainee of the Year and the NSW Women in Trade award (to name a few!). She’s become a proud advocate, showing others that you don’t have to grow up in gumboots to belong in agriculture. “Most farmers will take on anyone with the right attitude,” she says, adding that while dairy is often perceived as a male-dominated field, “there are so many women here and we’re incredibly supported.”
Her time on the farm has brought plenty of laughs, too. From perfecting her manual driving skills in an old Suzuki Vitara, to a cow’s impeccable aim landing poop straight into her shirt pocket, there’s never a dull moment. And there’s always her favourite cow, Shottle 4326, who makes herself known with daily demands for an ear scratch.
With a practical approach to tech, Celina relies on her phone for everything from managing electric fences and connecting with the team to catching up on dairy podcasts. Celina loves that her days are never stagnant. “There’s always something more to learn and explore, no matter how long you’ve been in the industry.”
In Gloucester, she’s found a career that challenges her, a community that supports her and a place that feels like home. Oh and the mouth-watering cheese doesn't hurt either.
