Brooke Theodore
Meet Brooke from Alvie, Victoria
Early starts, cows and a life Brooke never expected.
In Alvie, Victoria, you’ll often find Brooke on her dairy farm at sunrise, soaking in the peace of a new day. “Sunrise and sunset,” she says, “are both beautiful.” For Brooke, those moments capture what she loves most about farming: her connection to the land, her animals and the steady rhythm of farm life.
Brooke didn’t always picture herself here. She felt the pull of dairy back in secondary school, but her mum urged her to keep her options open (we’ve all been there).
However, everything changed when she met Clint, her partner, who was already dairy farming. Falling for Clint meant falling into the world she’d always wanted—a life full of grit, purpose (and admittedly, delicious butter and cream).
Of course, Brooke had a favourite cow: “1643 was her number—a Shuttle x Brick,” she recalls. “You could walk her anywhere on a halter and she was always ready for a pat.” Unfortunately, 1643 fell ill and Brooke swore off favourites after that.
Today, Brooke’s immersed in every part of the farm, from her cows to the tech that keeps things running smoothly. Her most prized gadget? The collars on her cows, which allow her to monitor their health and well-being from anywhere. That’s also why the one thing she can’t go without on the farm is—no surprise here—her phone, keeping her connected to staff, collars and the computer system wherever she is.
Brooke’s passion for dairy is unmistakable. “We love what we do. We love our animals, our land,” she says. She hopes people see the care dairy farmers put into their work and encourages everyone to support local, Australian-made produce.
And if you’re ever in Alvie, you just might get a taste of her family’s famous potato bake or creamy carbonara—a little taste of the farm at the table.
