Sweet Flavoured Butters

These butters are the perfect accompaniment for warm hot cross buns!

Ingredients

125g softened butter
1 tablespoon maple syrup
2 tablespoons finely chopped toasted pecan nuts
1 tablespoon icing sugar
1/2 teaspoon of finely grated zest of an orange, lemon and lime
1 teaspoon lime juice
Soak 2 tablespoons chopped raisins in 1 tablespoon of rum until plump, drain and combine with butter and 2 teaspoons icing sugar.
2 teaspoons honey
1 tablespoon finely chopped glace ginger

Method

  1. Add the various butter flavourings to the unsalted butter, softened at room temperature; roll into a cylinder using baking paper or foil. Refrigerate or freeze until required.
Handy Tips

All butters will keep for 1 week covered in the refrigerator, or up to 3 months frozen.
Roll the butter into a log between sheets of baking paper and chill until firm. Cut into slices and serve on hot cross muffins.
