2009 Judging Details

For eligible entry to the 2009 Australian Grand Dairy Awards products must be awarded winning status (gold) in one of the nominated qualifying competitions detailed below.

Judging for the 2009 Australian Grand Dairy Awards will be conducted at the offices of Dairy Australia.  Dairy Products will be judged on Friday 7th November and Cheese will be judged Wednesday 12th November 2008.

Judging is an anonymous process and the winners are announced at the annual awards ceremony.

Judging for the 2008 Australian Grand Dairy Awards was conducted at the offices of Dairy Australia, in Melbourne with Dairy Products Category being judged on Nov 9th and Cheese Category judged on Nov 14th.

Again the quality of products entered into the 2008 Australian Grand Dairy Awards was very impressive with over 360 entries received in total from 90 manufacturers. The winners of each class were announced at the awards presentation ceremony, held on Tuesday 5th of February 2008 at The National Gallery of Victoria.


Judging panels

The judging panel is made up of an independent chief judge who is supported by a panel of highly qualified technical experts, cheesemakers, providores, food media and chefs who ensure the credibility and integrity of the awards.

Category and Class details 2008

The Australian Grand Dairy Awards comprise of 18 product classes, grouped into two categories – cheese and dairy products. The winner of each class is awarded a gold Champion medal. The two highest scoring products across classes in both the Cheese and Dairy Product categories are then awarded a Grand Champion royal blue medal.

Manufacturers may display these medals on packaging, advertising and point of sale materials for a period of 3 years from the date of announcement.
