QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

Quality Assurance Managers monitor products and processing systems to ensure they meet specifications and standards of presentation and quality.

Quality Assurance Managers may perform the following tasks:

  • Study product specifications
  • Sample products to determine whether they meet specifications and quality standards, and take corrective action if necessary
  • Analyse quality assurance data, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Train and assist operators to carry out their quality control functions

SCOPE:

With the increasing emphasis on exports and the production of quality manufactured goods there is an increasing emphasis on quality assurance. Most Quality Assurance Managers are employed by manufacturing organisations.

COURSES AND TRAINING:

Specific training in quality assurance is provided on the job, under the supervision of an experienced staff member. Short 'in-house' training courses may also be provided. Employers often require trade qualifications as well as a relevant TAFE certificate or some experience as a machine operator or process worker. Due to growth in this area of employment, a degree is more frequently required by employers.
