PROFILE OF A PROCESS ENGINEER
Naomi grew up in an outer Melbourne suburb and completed her secondary education at the
local high school. She always enjoyed maths and science and decided to study chemical
engineering as it was a more structured program with better employment prospects.
Naomi joined the dairy industry as graduate with National Foods after considering
positions at Australian Paper Mills and Southcorp Packaging. National Foods sponsored
Naomi through the Graduate Engineer Orientation Program. During the program, Naomi
investigated process optimistation of ultrafiltration plants in Melbourne and
Adelaide.
In the next step in her career, Naomi worked as a Technical Support Engineer at Chelsea
implementing minor capital works and assisting Production as a technical resource. She
then moved into a role as Operations Shift Manager. Here Naomi was responsible for the
daily operation of manufacturing over different shifts. This entailed working with people
to ensure the production targets and standards were achieved.
Naomi has been seconded to work at National Foods plant in Perth. She is working as
Acting Packing Manager, a role which deals mainly with people management but Naomi
says this role has given her the opportunity to further develop her leadership and
management skills.
