PROFILE OF A DAIRY TECHNOLOGIST
I was born and raised in Shepparton, attending Notre Dame College in the same town.
The tertiary course that I undertook, a Bachelor in Applied Science (Environmental
Health), offered diversity in a context of subjects. The range that was covered
included: science, engineering, health, environment, business and arts.
Although I had previously undertaken 12 months work placement with Local Government,
I decided I would prefer undertaking a position within a private industry.
Like many others, it was primarily by chance that I entered the dairy industry after
applying for a job seeking fresh graduates in the Science/Engineering field. Now I am
employed by Tatura Milk Industries Ltd, as a 'Graduate Student and my position will be
further reviewed once the graduate diploma studies in Dairy Technology are completed.
Currently my role within the company is to carry out research based in the Cream
Cheese Dept. focusing on process efficiencies.
I perceive the dairy industry to be very progressive and forever expanding, whilst
the demand for its quality products is fast growing. I believe the misfortune the
European dairy industry has encountered recently will further pave the way to prosperity
and evolution in Australia's dairy industry.
