AGRICULTURAL SCIENTIST
Agricultural Scientists apply scientific principles and methods to improve the
productivity and quality of farm animals and crops, to contribute to the economic
efficiency and sustainability of agricultural industries and to enhance the quality
of the rural environment.
Agricultural Scientists may:
- Act as consultants in the application of science to the practice of agriculture
- Train and coordinate the work of technicians and field workers in research
organisations
- Carry out experimental programs in controlled environments to develop better
environmental management methods
- Transfer information from research projects
to farmers and other users

Agricultural Scientists' careers are usually in:

These jobs are in either government departments or the private sector.
COURSES AND TRAINING:
To become an Agricultural Scientist, you usually need to complete a science degree
majoring in agricultural related studies. The normal entry requirement for degree
courses is the satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent, including English,
Maths and Chemistry. In some instances, passes in Physics and Agricultural Studies may
