OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER
Occupational Health and Safety Officers coordinate workplace health and safety systems
and provide advice on accident prevention and occupational health.
Occupational Health and Safety Officers may perform the following tasks:
- Promote occupational health and safety within the dairy company and develop
safer and healthier ways of working
- Use instruments to test work areas for toxic fumes and explosive gas-air
mixtures
- Identify potential accidents and health hazards and implement appropriate
control measures such as safe storage of chemicals and cleaning detergents
- Arrange OH&S and First Aid training for employees.
SCOPE:
Occupational Health and Safety Officers are employed in all areas of the dairy
industry, including manufacturing plants and as consultants on farms to highlight
and ensure that the safety aspects of the work area are recognised and maintained.
COURSES AND TRAINING:
Successful completion of a certificate, diploma or degree with major study in
Occupational Health and Safety is the minimum requirement for entry to this job.
