DAIRY EXTENSION OFFICERS
Dairy Extension Officers carry out complex technical support functions and provide
advice in aspects of agriculture such as research, production, servicing and marketing.
In field experiments, they are responsible for recording and interpreting experimental
data.
Dairy Extension Officers can:
- Be employed in dairy companies to help farmers provide quality milk
economically
- Liaise with researchers to provide current advice to farmers on production
techniques
- Work with animal breeders
- Interpret aerial photographs and prepare maps showing soil and vegetation
patterns
- Assist farmers to improve productivity

COURSES AND TRAINING:
The majority of people entering this field have a Science or Agricultural Science
degree. Some people enter after completing a Diploma or Advanced Diploma course in
Agriculture.
