DAIRY PROCESS WORKER
Dairy Process Workers operate equipment, process milk, and manufacture dairy products
and dairy based ingredients.
Dairy Process Workers may perform the following tasks:
- Receive, check and store raw materials, including milk
- Operate and clean pasteurisers, evaporators, membrane equipment and machines
to manufacture milk products
- Sample and check products for despatch
SCOPE:
Dairy Process Workers are employed in the manufacturing sector. As milk can only be
stored for a limited period of time, processing work varies from season to season, in
line with milk production levels. Most Dairy Process Workers are employed full time,
with some employed to meet seasonal demands. As most equipment in the manufacturing
sector is operated through computers, skills in these areas are important.
COURSES AND TRAINING:
There are no specific educational requirements for entry to this job. Training is
normally done on the job. Certificate courses are available from various TAFE
institutes. There are also more specific courses available to meet company
requirements.
