PROFILE OF A PROCESS TECHNOLOGIST

Stuart joined the dairy industry after finishing year 12 as the pay was better working in a cheese factory than working in the local bank plus overalls, boots and hairnet were more comfortable than a shirt, tie and trousers.

STUART Stuart has worked with Kraft Foods in the cheese operation at Simpson and then moved onto Mt Gambier where he worked as supervisor in the cultured milk products section. Products included sour cream, quarg, fromage, yoghurt and hard cheeses. During this time, he studied part time at Gilbert Chandler towards the Associate Diploma of Dairy Technology.

The next stage in his career involved 3 years as Territory Manager for Ecolab - suppliers of detergent and chemicals for the industry. He worked closely with clients understanding their needs and providing products and information.

Stuart is now working in the manufacturing sector again. He was Process technologist/leading hand for Australian Dairy Products which makes specialised milk and whey powders. Now he is Quality Supervisor for Warrnambool Cheese and Butter covering cheese, pasteurized milk and butter.
