FORKLIFT OPERATOR
Forklift Operators operate forklifts to shift and stack bales, cartons, containers,
crates and pallets of raw materials and finished products in dairy manufacturing
sites.
Forklift Operators in the dairy industry may perform the following tasks:
- Move pallets of packaging and other raw materials and finished products
- Load transport vehicles, ensuring loads are evenly and securely placed
- Service and make minor adjustments to the forklift
SCOPE:
Forklift Operators work in many types of manufacturing industries, transport and
distribution companies for the dairy industry warehouses. Promotion to positions
such as supervisor may be available in larger firms.
COURSES AND TRAINING:
Forklift Operators must hold a certificate of competency issued by the Victorian Work
Cover Authority. These certificates comply with the Occupational Health and Safety
(Certification of Plant Users and Operators) Regulations 1994. This means that they
are valid in all states and territories.
