ELECTRICIAN
Electricians are mainly engaged in making, fitting or repairing electrical machines,
instruments or appliances.
Electricians may perform the following tasks:
- Read mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams or specifications to find
out job requirements
- Make or alter metal parts, assemble parts and check that they fit and are
lined up correctly
- Maintain and repair equipment and other dairy machinery as required
SCOPE:
Many Electricians are employed in dairy manufacturing plants to repair and maintain
electrical machinery and equipment.Completion of post-apprenticeship qualifications,
particularly in electronics, may enable advancements to training, supervisory or
management positions.
COURSES AND TRAINING:
Entry to this job usually requires the completion of an apprenticeship. Employers
prefer applicants who have completed Year 10 or the equivalent. The New
Apprenticeships scheme has been implemented nationally. It requires that you complete
a set of core competencies that are linked to the type of job and the level of
qualification desired.
