PROFILE OF A PROCESS ENGINEER
From the country to the city to study and back to the country to work, Chris has had
study and work experiences that would be the envy of many.
After graduating as a Chemical Engineer in 1995, Chris was selected to join the Graduate
Engineer Orientation Program sponsored by the Dairy Research and Development Corporation.
This program combined an orientation to the dairy manufacturing industry while completing
the Graduate Diploma in Dairy Technology.
Following on from the major project investigating whey processing, Chris has been a member
of project teams at Bonlac Foods Stanhope investigating the feasibility of new capital
investment. He also has gained experience as a production supervisor in whey and powder.
He has traveled overseas to study equipment applications in Denmark, the Netherlands and
the USA.
After 2 years as Powder Production Manager where he was responsible for production
planning, training and management of staff , Chris has moved into process improvement
and waste reduction. He says he spends most of his time now investigating opportunities
to improve production efficiency.
