AGRICULTURAL ENGINEER
Agricultural Engineers study and advise on the application of engineering science and
technology to agricultural production and to the management of natural resources. They
apply their engineering knowledge and skills to solve problems relating to sustainable
agricultural production.
Agricultural Engineers may perform these tasks:
- Plan, supervise and manage the building of dairy effluent schemes, irrigation,
drainage, flood and water control systems
- Perform environmental impact
assessments
- Interpret research results and implement relevant practices
SCOPE:
Agricultural Engineers are employed in:
- Private consulting firms
- Intensive animal industries
- State Government agencies such as Departments of Agriculture
- Environment Protection Authority
- Research organisations
COURSES AND TRAINING:
Students who have an interest in pursuing a career as an Agricultural Engineer are
advised to explore a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental)
courses.
