PROFILE OF A QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER
I grew up in Cobram, attending local schools, & finishing my VCE at Goulburn Valley
Grammar School, before deciding to undertake tertiary studies in a Bachelor of Applied
Science, majoring in Food Technology and Biotechnology.
I enrolled in this course with the belief that science would provide me with a very
broad spectrum of skills that could potentially lead me into any one of a thousand
career pathways.
In my first year of study, I found the course to be a very basic science course, much
similar to my year 12 studies. However in the final two years, the course became more
interesting, giving me an ability to choose classes pertaining to my own specialist
field.
Following graduation, I was employed in a number of roles, including; A food technologist
at Uncle Toby's, Team leader in production at Kraft and a Quality Assurance officer at
both Campbell Soups and in my current employment at Murray Goulburn, Cobram factory.
My current role as a QA officer, is to ensure quality systems are in place to assist in
manufacturing a consistent product which meets customer satisfaction. Through this role
I am also responsible for internal auditing and technical support.
Although I undertook my tertiary studies in the city, I returned for the country
atmosphere, in the belief that the rural industry has much more to offer than the city.
I also believe that the dairy industry is currently heading directly into the eyes of
the export market, with Australia's dairy industry forever presenting itself to the
world as a clean and green product. The export market is now showing its appreciation
for this, paying premiums for these products.
