PROFILE OF AN ECONOMIST
Marie studied Agribusiness at Curtin University, Muresk in Western Australia. After
graduation, I traveled overseas to broaden my understanding and knowledge of the
agricultural industry.
Whilst in Great Britain, I worked for the United Kingdom Dairy Industry as a Market
Research Officer. I then moved to a position as Economic and Research consultant where
I worked on policy issues relating to the deregulation of the UK dairy industry.
On my return to Australia I worked for the Western Australian Farmers Federation,
responsible for Dairy Research and Policy Management.
Currently I am the Senior Policy Analyst for the Victorian Farmers Federation addressing
Economics and Senior Policy Development. This work covers areas such as taxation reform,
Telecommunications, Information Technology, Women's and Youth Issues, Diversity Policy,
Rural Health Services, Local Government Rating, National Competition Policy, Electricity
and Gas Reform, Exceptional Circumstances and Road Funding.
