DAIRY PROCESSING TECHNICIAN
Dairy Processing Technicians assist Dairy Technologists in developing food products,
establishing standards for the production, packaging and marketing of foods and
monitoring product quality.
Dairy Processing Technicians may perform the following tasks:
- Carry out routine testing to ensure maintenance of safety and health standards
- Monitor microbial content, nutritional value, flavour and appearance
- Check handling, processing and storage of raw materials
SCOPE:
In the Dairy Industry, Dairy Processing Technicians generally commence work as
assistants and advance to higher positions dependant on their level of skill and
experience. Demand for Dairy Processing Technicians depends on the level of milk
production and individual company needs.
COURSES AND TRAINING:
The minimum educational requirements that apply for entry into this occupation are
the completion of Year 12 or equivalent, industry experience, or mature age entry.
